This species was scientiffically described in the year 2000, it is probably closely related to Ceropegia meyer-johannis.

It is a herbaceous, hairy climbing plant with fusiform roots.

In contrast to the leaves of all other species, this species has leaves of which three are whorled around the stem.

The flowers stand in short pedunculated cymes, they are relativ small and greenish beige with several purple-maroon spots on the flower-tube. The haired petals appear almost black.

Ceropegia verticillata has stoloniferous roots, with the offshoots it can propagate itself vegetatively.
