| Ceropegia
ludlowii is a climbing lowland species with twining stems, shortly
pubescent in two broad lines. The lower leaves are wide ovate in shape and reach a size of about 13 x 13 cm, the leaves in the upper part of the stem are rather narrowly ovate in shape and smaller, about 3 to 7 cm long and 1 to 3,5 cm wide. All leaves are sparsely minutely hispid above, glabrous below and bear an slightly hirsute, 12, to 7 cm long petiole. The flowers of this species are quite similar to those of Ceropegia longifolia. They appear in ca. ten-flowered cymes and can becaome 4,5 to 6 cm long. They are slightly curved, dark purple coloured and show some white spots. The flower tube is 3,5 to 5 cm long, glabrous on the outside, white pilose inside. In the upper part the flowers have dark purple cilia. |
