Ceropegia species was scientifically described in the year 1999. It may be
related to the asiatic Ceropegia bulbosa. It is a climbing species with subterranean tubers, which often form chains. The twining stems are succulent, five- to six-angled and can grow up to 1 m in length. The leaves are small, 1 to 2,5 cm long, linear-shaped and sessile. The flowers have a purplish colour and show some purple-maroon hair on the lobes. In P. G. Archer's 'Kenya Ceropegia Scrapbook' this species is pictured under the roman numeral VII as 'Mwatate Tuber'. |
