Ceropegia haygarthii   (Schltr.)

back

syn. Ceropegia distincta var. haworthia [wrong], Ceropegia distincta ssp. haygarthii ((Schltr.) Huber), Ceropegia haygarthii 'Haworthii' [wrong], Ceropegia tristis (Hutchinxon)

distribution:

Angola
Mozambique
South-Africa
: Eastern Cape; Gauteng; KwaZulu-Natal; Mpumalanga; Northern Province

The flowers of this species are among the strangest in the whole flowering world ! There are several clones, of which the flowers can differ very much from eachother. But all have this strange elongated 'aerial' which makes the flower so bizarre.

This species is one of the easy to cultivate plants. It needs relatively much water, because the leaves are not succulent. From time to time it likes a bit fertilizer, this can be a 'normal' fertilizer from the garden-market.

In my opinion this species is identical with Ceropegia distincta.
