ssp. pretoriensis   (R. A. Dyer)

syn. -

distribution:

South Africa: Magaliesberg / Gauteng

This species builds a very impressing tuber, which is often dented on the top surface.

The plants lost their leaves and stems once a year in autumn / winter.

The rhomb-shaped leaves are very large in the beginning, stiff but less succulent, a bit spottet on the upper side. When the plant starts to sproud its flowers, the leaves become smaller and smaller, the plant is then growing very fast.

The flowers themselve are formed very slim, but are still very respectably and appear very numerously. They are most often of a flesh-like pink colour.
