This species is a strongly growing climbing plant with large roundish leaves.

The flowers are medium sized, light whitish beige, and often decorated all over with ruby-coloured spots. The flower-tube is mostly curved upwards, it is always bulbous in the middle. The petals are sometimes united, but may not always be lantern-shaped. They form five pocket-like openings, which are covered with relatively long white hair.
