distribution:

Bhutan: Thimphu District / Western Zone; Punakha District / Central Zone

This species is a smaller, slender twining plant.

The stems are sparsely puberulous in two lines.

The leaves are membranous, ovate to oblong-ovate in shape and 4 to 9 cm long as well as 1 to about 3,7 cm wide. Their apexes are acuminate. The leaf base is rounded to heart-shaped and slightly hirsute.

The flowers, with a length of 1,8 to 2,6 cm, are quite small. They appear either singly or up to four-way in few flowered inflorescences. The lower part is somewhat crooked and slightly swollen, the flower tube is about 1,2 to 1,8 cm long. It is light green in colour and shows some dark purple spots. The corolla lobes are united and form the 'cage' typical for the genus. They are also dark purple in colour and bear conspicuous purple hairs.

Plants of this species were apparently only ever found on river banks so far, where they grew on quite damp, stony ground.
