| This species
was found in the dunes of the coastal areas of Zululand. It grows as a
rambler between the coastal dune-vegetation. Ceropegia arenaria has no subterranean tubers but thickened roots. The stems grow not twining as in realated species like Ceropegia denticulata or Ceropegia nilotica but rambling on the ground. The short petioled, more or less ovate or lancett-shaped leaves reach a lenght of up to 4 cm and are up to 2,5 cm broad, mostly they are much smaller or are absent at all. The flowers appear solitary or in smaller groups in the axilles, they are about 6 cm long. |
