Ceropegia africana (R. Br.)

| syn. - |
| distribution: South-Africa: Eastern Cape; Western Cape |
| Like in some other species,
I cannot definitely say that the pictured plant really is that species. This plant belongs to the species which grow from a tuber and is very similar to Ceropegia linearis, but its inflorescence is tapering and twining, which is not the case in Ceropegia linearis. Also the leaves resemble those of Ceropegia linearis, but are dark red on the underside. This plant seems to be very susceptible for root decay. |

| According to O. A. Leistner's 'Flora of Southern Africa' the ssp. barklyi differs from the nominate race by its proportional longer corolla lobes, whereas individual clones differ from eachother dependent on their origin and transitional forms between both subspecies are also known. |
