| This species is a smaller,
about 1 m long climbing plant. It is similar to Ceropegia carnosa in
almost every parts, but the flower is hirsute inside the whole flower
tube, whereas in Ceropegia carnosa the flower tube is only haired in the
upper part. Plants, that were found growing at the kenyan coast, may be a distinct, up to now unnamed variety. Only recently (2004) this species was found on Socotra Island, where it is now the only member of its genus known so far. This may be the same 'unknown' species which was found in the year 1968 by J. Lavranos on Socotra Island. In Ethiopia it is named Shamo or Shamu. |
